Volunteer Appreciation Night 2019
A note from Kathryn Carpenter,
Executive Director, Cape Cod Literacy Council
Our volunteers and supporters are truly the lifeblood of our organization. I was thrilled on April 16th at our annual Volunteer Appreciation Night to see many of you and your admiring students. To those of you who were unable to attend, you were very much in our thoughts.
It was a night of smiles, laughter and the making of new friends. Literacy was celebrated to the fullest thanks to wonderful appetizers and the lovely venue donate by our generous sponsor, The Brazilian Grill. We are thankful also to our keynote speaker, State Senator Julian Cyr, who started the evening off with a heartfelt recognition of our hard-working volunteers. Two very stirring speeches followed, the first by Juliana Lobo, one of our outstanding young learners, whose skill in crafting her thank you speech is a tribute to her dedication and hard work in learning another language and presenting it so beautifully. Juliana was followed by a volunteer and CCLC Board member, Arun Taneja, who eloquently described his journey assimilating into a new culture in America from India.
It was an inspiring night, and my inspiration continues daily, thanks to your caring support of the Cape Cod Literacy Council. We simply couldn’t succeed without you!
Thank you for all you do!
