The
President's Message
by Scott Himstead, President

I'm pleased to note that the Cape Cod Literacy Council is now in its 12th year of providing a very valuable service to adults in the community who have literacy problems.

The work of the Council receives financial support from many sources. In addition to funds from the Cape Cod Times, our lead sponsor, support comes from the United Way, the Massachusetts State Department of Education, workplace contracts and from many individual contributors.

Our major fundraising, and fun raising, event each year for the Council is The Great Cape Cod Adult Spelling Bee for Literacy, which challenges the spelling prowess of teams from many businesses and organizations across the Cape.

The 10th annual Bee will take place this year at the Coonamesett Inn in Falmouth, on November 5th. A fine dinner is included.

The Bee has become an exciting tradition on the Cape. The team from the District Attorney's Office is the defending champions.

I join with our executive director, Dorothe Bozza, and our board of directors in extending best wishes, and an invitation to join us on November 5th!
